Problem Statement
Existing crypto on-ramp and off-ramp services often have lengthy onboarding, confusing interfaces, and limited payment options, causing frustration for new users. Rampnow streamlines the fiat-to-crypto conversion process with quick, user-friendly, minimal clicks, transparent pricing, and broad payment support.

Context
Crypto on-ramp services often frustrate users with long sign-ups, confusing layouts, and surprise fees. RampNow is changing that. Our new widget makes converting fiat to crypto quick and easy, creating a seamless experience for everyone.
Every function in its own place
No fluff, consistent, clean UI
The widget is designed to be clear and easy to use, making it simple for both beginners and experts. We have focused on a simple interface, showing only the most important elements. This helps users concentrate on key actions like choosing payment methods and converting currencies. The instructions are clear, informative, and straightforward.
Design Decisions:
1. Users feel in control with clear pricing from start to finish.
2. Reduces the frustration caused by last-minute price changes.
3. Enhances trust by providing real-time information.
My profile
Displaying users' KYC level and daily limit upfront is essential to ensure they are fully aware of their transaction capacity. This not only helps them monitor their usage but also motivates them to upgrade their KYC for higher limits, ultimately reducing transaction restrictions. This approach provides a clean user interface and ensures the best user experience by maintaining consistency across all devices.

Order status
After completing the necessary processes, users can check the order status and track each stage of their transaction with precise updates. Progress bars provide feedback on their position in the purchase journey. The design offers complete transaction details, including time, date, and the specific cryptocurrency purchased, along with real-time updates on the expected deposit time for the crypto.
I have added animations into the payment to improve enhance the user experience. The subtle animations engage users while keeping a sleek interface. The buttons offer clear guidance, simplifying the payment process and providing reassurance with a confirmation before the transaction.

Research
User Interview
I conducted user interviews with stakeholders and cryptocurrency buyers from the EU. Before starting the interviews, I prepared a session guide with a set of questions to understand the users' challenges, needs, experience, and expectations.
After framing the questions, I conducted user interviews with 9 users over a period of 4 days, each lasting about 30-40 minutes.
Validation
To conclude the research, I conducted additional research to validate the observed patterns and themes. (More on this later!)
Digging down the data with the real users
We gathered insights by talking to users who used our crypto onramp widget. We found issues like confusion in payment selection and onboarding processes. This helped us improve the widget to better meet user needs.
Competitive Analysis
Next, an analysis of competitors helped me empathize with the customer experience on purchasing and focus on familiar patterns. Each competitor was examined by what was working well, what wasn't working as well, and an overall analysis. This helped me understand how to break down information overload and present important.
Goal
After our primary research, our goal was to develop a user-friendly platform with an intuitive interface based on behavioral research and best practices.
Hypothesis
I’ve prepared a list of tasks I asked users to complete. Observing this process, I ensured users could find all features and the interface was intuitive and user-friendly.
Jobs To Be Done
After collecting all the insights about the product, it's important to structure them to understand how to understand users' triggers, and expected outcomes.
After an in-depth study and discussions on the challenges faced by customers using fiat-to-crypto on-ramp services, we identified key issues that affects user experience.
1
Quick Onboarding (Quick fix)
2
Optimizing Payment selection method
3
Quick Onboarding (Quick fix)
Many crypto platforms, like MoonPay and Wyre, struggle with complex onboarding, requiring users to fill out extensive forms, which leads to frustration and drop-offs.
To tackle this, my product manager and I streamlined the user journey, collecting only essential information upfront. Users can now create an account quickly using just their email and OTP verification, enhancing engagement and reducing drop-off rates.
OUTCOMES
By reducing the onboarding steps, we managed to retain new users and significantly enhance the overall onboarding experience.
Optimizing payment selection
Unlike most competitors that only support Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, RampNow covers over 10+ payment methods across the European Union. Other platforms typically present payment options during checkout, often leading to hidden fees and frustration. RampNow showcases all options and transaction fees upfront to ensure transparency.
Initially, there was a challenge regarding cluttered UI and space limitations, as the original layout was tight. After several brainstorming sessions, the solution involved enlarging the widget, optimizing both height and width to seamlessly incorporate all payment methods, without affecting the mobile experience. This change resulted in a cleaner and more user-friendly interface while maintaining transparency and simplicity.
Enhanced Transparency & Trust
After listening to users we uncovered some key issues in the fiat-to-crypto conversion proces
- Hidden Fees : Unexpected charges often appear at the last minute, leaving users frustrated.
- Payment Method Confusion: It's not always obvious which payment options come with extra fees.
- Value Uncertainty: The real-time value of cryptocurrencies can be confusing and unclear.
OUTCOMES
We made sure to put this information upfront to make it easier for users to compare the fiat they're spending with the crypto they're receiving.
Design solutions have tradeoffs
Sometimes the business interests conflict with user needs, and what designers need to do is to find a “sweet spot” where both needs are balanced.
Feedback is important
To succeed, designers need feedback from users, stakeholders, and peers. They should carry the feedback along the design journey and constantly iterate based on it.
Post-launch metrics tracking
Setting up analytics is a key step for understanding how users interact with the product post-launch period.
